ma, one of the three people left behind by Yun Qianyue, stepping forward.“Hmm, you all are from Yun Shallow Moon’s quarters and aren’t enough to provide testimony. Is there anyone else who wishes to s...Chapter 44
Just as Yun Qianyue's hand barely lifted the curtain to peek outside, she was suddenly stopped by Rong Jing stretching out his arm. She turned her head in confusion.
"Aren't you very tired You can sleep on the carriage if that's the case!" said Rong Jing.
"I'm not sleepy anymore now. Besides, sleeping inside a carriage isn't as comfortable as sleeping in a room," Yun Qianyue pushed him away and made to get off the carriage.
Rong Jing watched as Yun Qianyue seemed hesitant and didn't retract his hand blocking her way.
"Hey, why are you stopping me" Yun Qianyue raised an eyebrow at him when she couldn't push away his hand.
"Your hair is messy; let me fix it for you," said Rong Jing.
“Is that so It's not that bad, I'm very careful to keep it neat,” Yun Qianyue reached up and touched her hair, frowning.
Rong Jing beat her to it by reaching above her head first. His fingers lightly tugged at the delicate Peacock Heart Knot in her hair, causing her precious ornamental hairpins, jade pendants, and pearl flowers to fall off. Her long black hair cascaded down over her shoulders.
"Hey!" Yun Qianyue was alarmed and glared at Rong Jing. "It's not messy!"
"It is," replied Rong Jing without looking at her.
“You...” Yun Qianyue gave him a sidelong glance, annoyed. “Only now it’s become messy!”
"I'll redo your hair for you!" Rong Jing pulled out a comb from somewhere and began to run his fingers through her hair.
“No need,” Yun Qianyue opened his hand and shouted outside, "Cai...”
"There are surely many people outside; if you shout out loud they will all stare. Do you want everyone to see your current state" Rong Jing raised an eyebrow as he toyed with the comb in his hand. “With disheveled hair and untidy clothes If that’s what you desire, I won’t object!”
Yun Qianyue choked on her words; she swallowed back the name 'Lian' and looked at Rong Jing with an extremely displeased expression—her hair was indeed disheveled, but when had her clothes ever been untidy She was annoyed that he had beaten her to it and snapped, "Would you please comb hair"
"Of course I can!" said Rong Jing.
“Then... go ahead,” Yun Qianyue resignedly closed his eyes. Since she couldn’t do up ancient hairstyles, she had no choice but to let him do it for her. Besides, she didn't like the Peacock Heart Knot anyway and was glad that it had come undone. She still cautioned him though, “Be gentle; don’t pull my scalp.”
"Sure," Rong Jing re-grabbed her hair as his comb lightly glided through Yun Qianyue's tresses.
Yun Qianyue never expected a man to be able to do hairstyles. Bored, she picked up the jade pendant and pearl flowers that had fallen off in the carriage and toyed with them. This era’s craftsmanship was indeed very primitive; despite being made of such high-quality jade, these ornaments were poorly polished and their designs were simple and unrefined. She also noticed that her jewelry consisted only of gold, silver, and jade—no precious gems. If she were to mine for some gemstones and create accessories to sell, it was likely that she would make a fortune.
Thinking this way, Yun Qianyue suddenly felt spirited and turned her head to ask Rong Jing, "How wealthy is your family"
"What Do you actually want to count my family’s money" said Rong Jing as he raised an eyebrow at her before continuing to comb.
"Just asking," Yun Qianyue replied.
"About 500,000 taels of gold." said Rong Jing.
Five hundred thousand taels of gold! One tael was equivalent to four thousand yuan in modern currency, so five hundred thousand taels would be approximately twenty billion yuan. In this world, a meat bun cost one coin; prices were very high compared with her previous life where buns only cost one dollar each—equivalent to two hundred billion yuan today. Two hundred billion yuan indeed made him wealthy! However, he was still not considered extremely rich since his family was the Prince's house. If we take into account their immense power and wealth, they could easily mine for gold at any time. She then inquired, "Does your family mine for gold"
"Do you think anyone can just go around mining for gold And it’s not easy to do," said Rong Jing coolly. “There are only two gold mines across the Heavenly Sage Empire, and they’re heavily guarded by imperial troops. No one can simply start mining there.”
“Oh, then where does your family's money come from” Yun Qianyue asked.
"It’s just that my ancestors’ wealth has been expanded," replied Rong Jing.
Hearing this, Yun Qianyue scoffed. “So the money is actually your ancestor's; not yours. Yet you spend it so carefree and recklessly! Look at how luxurious you are, even sitting in a carriage made of sandalwood.”
"The ancestors of the Prince’s House were military generals who only knew how to fight but didn’t know how to manage household affairs or amass wealth. Since I took over managing the Prince's House, we have accumulated such savings. Furthermore, all the assets of the Prince’s House are currently under my control; besides the title of Prince that I haven't inherited yet, everything is managed by me. Don’t you think these are my money" Rong Jing countered.
"Ugh... That's true," Yun Qianyue was speechless and asked out of interest: "What do you do to earn so much money then"
“You seem to be asking about my private matters,” Rong Jing reminded her.
Yun Qianyue pursed her lips. She had heard that rich people were indeed secretive about their money-making methods, which explained why Rong Jing was so miserly—he must have been honing his ability to amass wealth all along. She closed her mouth but then felt reluctant and asked: "Who wants to know your private matters I just want to know who is the wealthiest person in this entire Heavenly Sage Empire—or on this continent!"
"I am," Rong Jing said without hesitation.
“Five hundred thousand taels of gold makes you the wealthiest" Yun Qianyue stared at him in disbelief. Seeing his self-assured expression, she scoffed: "This is called being wealthy In our world's richest person rankings, the top one has over six hundred billion dollars and even those ranked lower have hundreds of billions! This continent really is poor!”
"The Yun王府 doesn't even qualify as having ten thousand taels," Rong Jing reminded her.
“Wow,” she thought in disbelief. Her family was far poorer than his. Yun Qianyue said with some resentment, “I will surely be richer than you in the future.”
"Alright, I hope so!" replied Rong Jing.
Yun Qianyue rolled her eyes. What was hope She would definitely have money; all she had to do was exploit a gemstone mine, and wouldn't that give her money But she didn't know if this world even had gemstones. Thinking about it made her frown. Then she thought about how hard-earned everything had been in her previous life, and now she still wanted to trouble herself in this one—she was just full of hot air. If she were to mine for precious stones, that would require her to work tirelessly, where was the leisurely lifestyle she enjoyed every day With this thought, her interest vanished immediately, and she urged: "Are you done yet"
"Almost!" Rong Jing pressed down on the last strand of dark hair, then took the jade hairpin from Yun Qianyue's hand to insert it into her hair.
“Master, Crown Prince Duan is now getting off his carriage and walking over!” At this moment, Xiangge reminded them outside. Listening to their conversation in the carriage, a cold expression occasionally flickered across his face. He couldn’t understand why Lady Qianyue deserved for the Young Master to tie her hair himself These years, except for him, no one had come within three steps of the Young Master, not even the old王爺, let alone women. Especially such a woman who behaved and spoke in an unladylike manner. It was truly baffling.
"Mm!" Rong Jing responded but remained calm as ever.
Yun Qianyue frowned; this dead man really disgusted her, yet he always appeared before her.
"Why isn’t Young Master Jing getting off Has Lady Yue woken up" Night Tianqiong approached and reached out to lift the curtain.
Xiangge immediately stepped forward to stop him. His cold face was expressionless as he said, "Crown Prince Duan, please wait a moment; my master just fell asleep again. I just woke him up. He is currently putting on his clothes."
"Oh" Night Tianqiong raised an eyebrow. His phoenix eyes were profound and clearly skeptical. He didn’t retract his hand and said, "Young Master Jing actually fell asleep That's impossible! The road was so bumpy; how could he sleep through it"
“Does Crown Prince Duan know that Young Master Jing has always been frail and can't withstand the roughness of mountain roads A short nap is perfectly normal.” Xiangge did not back down an inch. Even though Lady Qianyue had no engagement with Crown Prince Duan, there was an engagement between Cloud Manor and the imperial family, and Lady Qianyue was Cloud Manor's only legitimate daughter, bearing responsibility to enter the palace from birth. Before the emperor made a statement, she naturally remained the top choice. How could he let Crown Prince Duan see Young Master Jing tying up Lady Qianyue’s hair
“I am a prince; Young Master Jing isn’t a woman. What's wrong with him not being properly dressed Am I afraid you'll take a look” Night Tianqiong could not lift the curtain and secretly used his strength, but it still didn't move an inch. His expression turned slightly dark as he had long known that Rong Jing’s bodyguard was highly skilled in martial arts, but hadn’t expected him to be so high-level.
“Young Master Jing may not fear you, but Lady Qianyue is a woman,” Xiangge reminded Night Tianqiong.
"Lady Yue will eventually enter my Crown Prince Manor. Why should I be afraid Is it possible that she’s also improperly dressed in front of Young Master Jing" Night Tianqiong's gaze fixed on the tightly closed curtain as he wanted to see what Yun Qianyue and Rong Jing were up to alone together, a man and woman sharing a carriage. Wasn't she concerned about her reputation Even Qingwan liked Cloud Muhuan but still sat separately from him in their carriages. And even if she wasn’t concerned, didn’t Rong Jing know this Didn’t the Old王爺 of Cloud Manor know this either What were they planning to do! Had they forgotten that she would eventually enter the palace He was furious.
Xiangge remained silent but still did not let Night Tianqiong lift the curtain.
Night Tianqiong stared at Xiangge. "You may be Young Master Jing's personal bodyguard, but you have no right to stop me!"
"Xiangge, step aside," Rong Jing suddenly spoke from inside the carriage, his voice warm.
Upon hearing Rong Jing’s command, Xiangge slowly retracted his hand and stood aside.
Night Tianqiong reached out to lift the curtain. Suddenly a hand appeared from inside, beating him to it, lifting the curtain first. Yun Qianyue revealed her flawless face, still wearing her high bun, but compared to the peacock-shaped coiffure that Cai Lian had styled in the morning, this one was far simpler and less striking. Thus, though she remained beautiful beyond compare, she lost some of the heart-stirring brilliance.
Night Tianqiong seemed momentarily stunned by her sudden appearance, staring blankly at Yun Qianyue.
Her eyes were bright and sharp; her countenance was clear and elegant. The purple brocade robe she wore made her look noble and dignified, but her slim figure, delicate neck, and snow-white wrists gave an impression of such gracefulness that it seemed as if waves of the sea were crashing against his heart, making him unable to breathe for a moment.
Yun Qianyue looked at Night Tianqiong with no expression on her face, and coldly said: "Your Highness has said something wrong. Women from Cloud Manor enter the imperial palace, not your Crown Prince Manor. If I haven’t mistaken it, you are still not the emperor now"
Hearing this, Night Tianqiong immediately snapped back to reality, stopping his hand abruptly and staring at Yun Qianyue with a strange look in his eyes as if he had never seen her before. But when he realized what she meant by that, his expression froze.
“Moreover, there is not just one daughter in Cloud Manor. I have vowed to stay out of the palace and I will keep my promise.” Yun Qianyue looked at Night Tianqiong’s frozen face and continued: “Also, let me remind you again, Your Highness, my brother is only Cloud Muhuan. I don’t remember when I became a sister to you; we are mere acquaintances at best, and besides, I can't afford such an esteemed brother as yourself. You should be careful with your words.”
With that, she freed Night Tianqiong’s hand from the carriage door and jumped off lightly.
The moment she got out of the carriage, several familiar faces caught her eye: Princess Qingwan, Rong Linglan, Leng Shuli, Yu Ning, and a few ladies whom she had met in Jingyuan Garden. They were all dressed up elaborately, their clothes glittering with beads and jewels, especially the shiny gold accessories which were quite dazzling. Yun Qianyue harrumphed; vulgar! Turning her gaze elsewhere, she saw Cloud Muhuan stepping out of his carriage to look at her.
Yun Qianyue glared at Cloud Muhuan; he couldn’t just be satisfied with a shirt, but now that he had been shut away for half a month, the grudge was even bigger. She turned her gaze to search for Cai Lian’s figure and saw that Cai Lian, Tingyu, and Tingxue’s carriage was squeezed at the back of the line. Those three girls seemed to want to come over but were blocked by the princesses and ladies in front; they did not dare to force their way through either, only looking at her helplessly.
Xiangge remained silent but still did not allow Night Tianqiong to lift the curtain.
Night Tianqiong looked at Xiangge.

Those three girls seemed to want to come over but were blocked by the princesses and ladies in front; they did not dare to force their way through either, only looking at her helplessly.
"Where am I staying, Rong Jing" Yun Qianyue turned around and asked Rong Jing. She wasn’t interested in listening to the Buddha’s voice or basking in his light. All she wanted was sleep. If she felt refreshed after a good night's rest, she might consider touring the ancient temple as long as she didn't have to deal with that charlatan monk.
Yun Qianyue called for Rong Jing naturally, without thinking anything of it, but little did she know that almost everyone’s faces turned grim, especially Miss Yu Ning from the Chancellor's family, who tightened her handkerchief involuntarily.
"You and I will be staying at the Quiet Mind Pavilion on the back mountain; Venerable Master Ci Yun has already arranged it for us," Rong Jing answered with a slight bow as he stepped down from the carriage calmly. He looked at Yun Qianyue, his expression serene as always, seemingly not bothered by her calling him by name. To Xiangge standing nearby, he said: "Take her there and settle in, then come to find me afterward; I’ll go see Master Ling Yin first."
"What You mean we're staying together No way!" Yun Qianyue immediately protested.
Prince Nuitian frowned. "Young Master Jing, Moon Sister is still an unmarried lady and should not share a residence with you; it's important to consider her reputation."
Yun Qianyue hated this man and his calling her 'Moon Sister', but she didn’t argue against what he said for once. The reason was not that she cared about any so-called reputation, but rather because she really did not want to live together with such a person.
"Given the mixed crowd of people entering Fragrant Spring Mountain today, and despite Lingtai Temple conducting an inspection, there may still be individuals with ulterior motives among us. Since Grandfather Yun entrusted Moon to me for safety reasons, I naturally take full responsibility. Young Master Jing is a man of honor, and as a direct daughter of the Cloud Manor, Moon wouldn't do anything that would tarnish her reputation. Does Prince Nuitian suspect any misconduct" Rong Jing looked at him calmly.
Prince Nuitian replied coldly: "I have no doubt about your character, Young Master Jing; nor does Moon Sister's behavior pose a threat to her reputation. However, it’s still inconvenient for them to share the same residence."
"Prince Nuitian can rest assured; Quiet Mind Pavilion is technically two separate courtyards within one compound. My quarters and Moon’s are adjacent but do not interfere with each other." After Rong Jing finished speaking, he no longer looked at Prince Nuitian, turning instead to Yun Qianyue: "Quiet Mind Pavilion is the most serene place in Lingtai Temple, perfect for rest."
"Alright then!" Yun Qianyue agreed immediately. She figured if she shared a compound with Rong Jing, it would be harder for others to intrude, which suited her idea of seclusion. Tired of arguing further, she instructed Xiangge: "Lead the way!"
"Yes." Xiangge bowed respectfully to Yun Qianyue and took the lead.
Yun Qianyue ignored everyone else and followed behind Xiangge lazily. She waved at her three maidservants as well: "Cailian, Tingyu, Tingshu, what are you still standing there for Hurry up!"
"Yes, Miss!" The three people immediately responded and squeezed out between Rong Linglan and Leng Shuli.
The other two were pushed aside and instantly glared at the trio with anger, about to shout when they heard Rong Jing speak again. "This place is elevated in terrain. Although the back mountain is quiet, it's rather cold here. Remember to cover yourself with a blanket while you sleep."
"Understood!" Yun Qianyue waved her hand impatiently. What a nag!
The others could no longer be described as merely surprised at this point; Rong Linglan even widened her eyes in disbelief, staring at Rong Jing—was this really her brother Was this the brother who had always been indifferent and cold to others without so much as sparing them a glance Even her grandfather found him hard to approach. So what made him show such care towards Yun Qianyue
Cold Shuli was also surprised, but she paid more attention to Night Tianqiong's attitude. Seeing that Night Tianqiong’s forehead veins were slightly bulging and his lips tightly pressed together in a grim expression, she became even more certain of her guess: The Prince Regent still cared about Yun Qianyue, and it seemed he cared more than she had imagined. What made Yun Qianyue so special
Yu Ning suddenly closed her eyes as her pink lips turned pale and were tightly pressed together into a straight line. If Rong Jing truly took on the responsibility entrusted by Grand Duke Yong, he wouldn’t need to care for Yun Qianyue this much; even being concerned about her catching a cold seemed excessive! Seeing that Night Tianqiong was silent and Yun Qianyue was about to leave, she mustered up courage and said softly: "Rong Jing, you really do care for Sister Moon, more so than Cloud Jing!"
Hearing this, the others remembered that Yun Muhan, Yun Qianyue's brother, was also here! They glanced at Rong Jing and then Yun Muhan.
Yun Muhan seemed to have not heard anything as his eyelids didn't even flicker, and he wore no expression on his face.
Although Yun Qianyue had walked away, she could still hear clearly. She turned around briefly to look at Yu Ning, her gaze falling from the tight pursing of her lips to her tightly clenched handkerchief due to nervousness, and finally landing on her unwavering stare fixed on Rong Jing's face. Suddenly understanding something, she smiled.
Her laughter was light and silent; no one else heard it except for Rong Jing who glanced at her once and Yun Muhan who also looked over briefly.
Yun Qianyue met the two faces, thinking back to how earlier in the carriage she had thought that Rong Jing and Yun Muhan seemed very similar because they both liked threatening people and were cunning. But now it seemed different: not only did their appearances differ but also their essence. It was as if at this moment she had smoothly penetrated beyond the surface of those two individuals to analyze their inner nature.
Yun Muhan exuded coldness from the depths of his soul, rejecting everyone with disdain; even flowers and trees would fear freezing near him. However, Rong Jing was born noble and proud, although not arrogant like Yun Muhan. He maintained a refined and gentle demeanor that looked affable but actually put himself above others, looking down upon them all.
Thinking this, Yun Qianyue rolled her eyes dramatically and turned away to continue walking forward. To her, those two were nothing more than frivolous flowers leading the likes of Yu Ning and Princess Qingwan astray.
"Since Cloud Grandpa entrusted her to me, I naturally have to ensure she's safe; if she catches a cold it’s my responsibility too. As for Cloud Jing, his duty is to ensure Princess Qingwan’s safety, so he has no time for her and thus isn’t concerned. Therefore, my instructions and care towards her are not inappropriate." Rong Jing turned back to Yu Ning after looking away from Yun Qianyue, his gaze calm as was his voice: "Miss Qin, does this answer satisfy you"
Yu Ning’s face paled momentarily before she gave a slight bow. Forcing herself into a soft smile, she replied gently: "Rong Jing is right; I didn’t mean anything else but just envied Sister Moon for having such a good brother and also being cared for by the young lord."
Rong Jing no longer looked at her, his gaze falling upon Yun Muhan. "Cloud Jing’s care for Princess Qingwan is indeed fortunate, whereas I was simply burdened with an extra task by Cloud Grandpa. She has proven to be troublesome all along, causing me headaches. A brother like this would give anyone a headache every day."
You bastard Rong Jing! I’ll make your life miserable every day from now on! Yun Qianyue, although far away, could still hear clearly despite the distance. She was initially puzzled but soon realized she had martial arts abilities and felt elated at this discovery.
"So that’s how it is!" Yu Ning suddenly covered her mouth with a handkerchief as she giggled softly. Her entire demeanor changed from tense to lively and beautiful.
Night Tianqiong glanced at Yu Ning and then followed her gaze towards Rong Jing, who was massaging his forehead, looking extremely troubled.
"Why don’t we switch places I’m not afraid of a bit of trouble!" Yun Muhan’s voice was stiff but he wasn’t cold to Rong Jing.
Princess Qingwan’s face turned pale instantly.
"Rong Jing is not used to such good fortune as Cloud Jing enjoys. It’s just a few days of hassle that I can endure. Furthermore," doing what one is entrusted with, "how could I promise something and then fail to deliver" Rong Jing smiled faintly after releasing his hands.
Yun Muhan remained silent thereafter.
"Amitabha! This monk heard that Prince Regent, Young Lord Rong, Young Lord Yun, and Princess Qingwan have arrived at this humble temple. I am deeply ashamed for not welcoming you earlier; please forgive me!" A venerable aged around fifty hurried over, dressed in the robes of a temple abbot, Master Ci Yun from Lingtai Temple. His voice was loud as he bowed to the group.
"Master is too kind! My father appointed me here to pay respects to Venerable Lingyin and bathe under Buddha’s light for my people's fortune. Please forgive us for any disturbance!" Night Tianqiong returned to his princely bearing with hands behind his back, speaking humbly but displaying the high status of a crown prince.
"Prince Regent is too modest! Your Majesty’s grace blesses this temple," Master Ci Yun bowed slightly and turned to Rong Jing: "Congratulations, Young Lord Rong, on your recovery from illness! This monk offers my best wishes!"
"Thank you, Master. Heaven has shown mercy by allowing me a few more years." Rong Jing’s voice was gentle without the lofty tone of Night Tianqiong, making him seem approachable.
"Young Lord should now be safe with eastern purple qi bringing good fortune and long life," Ci Yun smiled, then said to Rong Jing: "Uncle Lingyin is waiting for you in Bodhidharma’s hall. He mentioned that if you arrive there, go in freely. Since Young Lord is a familiar face here, I won’t accompany him. First, I will lead the Prince Regent and others to their quarters."
"Alright! Master needn't worry about me; I can manage on my own." Rong Jing nodded without glancing at anyone else, walking slowly towards Lingyin's hall alone.
Night Tianqiong’s eyes darkened slightly. Although it seemed like Rong Jing was being slighted, everyone knew that Lingyin was a reclusive master whose presence and words were hard to come by even for the emperor. With Rong Jing now visiting him privately, one could imagine how much respect Lingyin held for him.
"Prince Regent, Young Lord Yun, Princess Qingwan, please follow me! I have already arranged rooms for all of you." Master Ci Yun bowed again and led them southwards towards their lodgings.
Night Tianqiong glanced at both of them, his lips slightly pursed but did not speak.
The Princess Qingwan looked at Yun Muhuan.
"Are you saying that I'm not teaching well" Yun Muhuan's cold and indifferent gaze landed on Rong Linglan. "For half a month, my teaching hasn't been effective with my sister She isn't stupid; it’s me who is being foolish"
Rong Linglan was startled when she recalled that Yun Muhuan was standing beside her. She hurriedly turned to look at him and felt a tremor in her heart upon meeting his indifferent gaze. She quickly laughed, saying, "How could I dare speak ill of Young Lord Yun It's just that Yun Qianyue is foolish... everyone knows how frivolous she is, wasting His Highness’ time like this—this really can't be allowed."
Under Yun Muhuan’s indifferent gaze, she couldn’t continue.
"If my sister learns to manage the household as Emperor has granted me two months of leave to teach her, does it mean that His Majesty is foolish and shouldn't have given me a holiday If she's an unyielding rock now, should she remain one forever Are you doubting the wisdom of the Imperial Will" Yun Muhuan raised his eyebrows.
Rong Linglan’s face turned pale. She didn’t understand why, in the past when she said bad things about Yun Qianyue, Yun Muhuan had never paid any attention to her and acted as if he hadn't heard anything. Why was he defending Yun Qianyue today She stepped back and quickly shook her head, "I didn't say that, I just meant that she's learning slowly..."
"It’s best not to have said it. If such words reach His Majesty's ears, you’ll likely be blamed." Yun Muhuan no longer looked at her as he coldly warned, "She is my sister and I do not want to hear anyone say anything like that about her again. Should I ever hear of this again—no matter who says it—I won’t show any restraint!"
Rong Linglan wanted to explain but suddenly fell silent.
Liensu was also startled and immediately closed his mouth without saying a word.
The Princess Qingwan glanced at the two of them and, without realizing it, took a few steps away from them. She only realized that Yun Muhuan had been protecting his sister after she’d seen what happened in the palace. No matter how bad her sister was, he would never allow anyone to bully her. The princess quickened her pace to catch up with Yun Muhuan and said softly, "They’re just envious of Moon’s sister receiving Lord Jing’s care. You don’t need to get angry at them. She isn't unintelligent; she's merely not interested in reading or learning etiquette. In her eyes, playing the zither, chess, calligraphy, painting, sewing, embroidery are all less enjoyable than martial arts training. It’s only natural that she learns slowly now. But as long as she puts in effort and you teach her, she’ll definitely become an accomplished lady."
Yun Muhuan seemed to have not heard her, remaining silent.
The Princess Qingwan was used to his behavior and didn’t speak up either, silently walking by his side.
Night Tianqiong glanced at Yun Muhuan and the Princess Qingwan. The man was cold, but she walked beside him in step after step, constantly observing his expression. He thought of how he used to see a similar figure following behind him when he felt a slight daze come over him. Had he been as cold back then No, Yun Muhuan may be indifferent, but he never disliked anyone. Back then, there was only distaste and disdain in his eyes, while now, the person didn't even spare a glance for him and regarded him with indifference and contempt when they met. He couldn’t help but close his eyes as his face turned pale.
"Is His Highness unwell" Liensu, who had been watching Night Tianqiong closely, immediately spoke up upon seeing the change in his expression.
Night Tianqiong calmed down and glanced back. He saw Rong Linglan and Liensu looking at him with worried eyes that also contained deep admiration and affection. Those were feelings he had once been most proud of because he thought such high-born ladies would be worthy partners for him. But now, why did those emotions no longer exist when seeing them Even thinking about how they used to bully Yun Qianyue made his heart feel a bit annoyed.
"Is the sun too intense" Rong Linglan also voiced her concern. After being warned by Yun Muhuan, she no longer feared him and looked at Night Tianqiong, thinking that as long as Yun Qianyue did not compete with her for his affection, there was nothing wrong with ignoring her in the future.
"I am fine!" Night Tianqiong turned around.
Rong Linglan and Liensu looked at each other and fell silent. The Crown Prince was always enigmatic; they dared not ask more about things that were beyond their understanding. This was precisely what drew them to him—his profoundness, dignity, and majesty made them feel satisfied and submissive as young girls.
Yu Ning walked at the back of the group, occasionally turning her head to look towards the mountainside behind them. She saw the five people ahead with a bitter smile in her heart. Once she used to mock Qingwan Princess and Rong Linglan, Cold Su because they had pursued men who trampled on their dignity for nothing—now, however, she only felt self-ridicule as she couldn’t even hold up to them; they could see the men clearly while she could barely catch a glimpse of their clothing. She didn't feel it was wrong before either, but now she understood that such people were meant to be worshipped from afar and not approached.
Yu Ning’s expression changed repeatedly. After a long time, she clenched her fists tightly—no, absolutely not! Didn’t she still have an opportunity
The group fell silent again; only the sound of footsteps could be heard.
The Venerable Ciyun thought to himself, "Amitabha," as he sighed deeply at this group of infatuated men and women.
Regarding Yun Qianyue, she was still clearly able to hear the chatter behind her and felt very pleased. She listened intently but soon couldn’t make out what they were saying anymore; frowning, she turned around and saw that it was only a dozen paces away. However, this did not dampen her mood since she didn't have any inner strength in her previous life—now that she had inner strength, of course, she would be happy. She tilted her head to look at the expressionless Xiange and immediately asked, "Hey, I can hear them talking; can you"
Xiange glanced back at Yun Qianyue’s excited face before nodding, “Yes.”
"Can you still do it now How far away can you hear clearly" Yun Qianyue knew that this guard seemed to have a high level of martial arts skills since he had blocked Night Tianqiong from opening the curtains.
“I can. I can roughly make out movements within two miles.” Xiange said.
"Two miles" Yun Qianyue widened her eyes, glancing back with disappointment—she could only hear them a dozen paces away. It seemed she didn’t have high-level inner strength either then. Comparing to others was indeed frustrating!
“That’s just minor for me. Lord Shizi can roughly make out the movements in all of Lingtai Temple,” Xiange said.
"What" Yun Qianyue stumbled. Could Rong Jing be so powerful She widened her eyes and looked at Xiange. No way, she wouldn’t believe it—wouldn't that make him a semi-immortal
Xiange thought that he should let Miss Shanyue know about his lord's abilities; otherwise, she would keep being overbearing in front of him. His lord just didn’t match up to her temper and temperament. She even cursed at the Lord on their journey and made a guard like Xiange feel uncomfortable—how could Lord Rong not be angry He nodded firmly, "With his cultivation level, it’s possible he can hear more than that!"
What! Yun Qianyue looked over Lingtai Temple—it was at least three miles in circumference. Could Rong Jing really be so powerful She wouldn’t believe him even if he hit her! “Maybe the sun is too harsh” Rong Lingle said, concerned.
"I’m fine," Night Tianqiong turned his head away from them.
Rong Linglan and Cold Su exchanged a glance—they didn't dare ask more questions since the Crown Prince was usually enigmatic. This was precisely what they liked about him; he made their hearts contented and submissive.
Yu Ning walked at the back, looking over her shoulder towards the mountainside with a bitter smile. She used to mock Qingwan Princess, Rong Linglan, and Cold Su, thinking that chasing after men who trampled on dignity was pointless—now, however, she only felt self-ridicule as she couldn’t even hold up to them; they could see the men clearly while she could barely catch a glimpse of their clothing. She didn't feel it was wrong before either, but now she understood that such people were meant to be worshipped from afar and not approached.

"Miss Shanyue, I have a name," Xiange reminded her.
"Fine, Xiange! I ask you, since the Prince of your family is so amazing and can hear everything within several miles around him, doesn't that mean he wouldn't have to do anything else day and night He could just listen to others' movements and conversations."
"Miss Yun Qianyue, martial artists need to know how to control their internal energy freely. In my Prince’s case, if he does not actively release his internal energy or deliberately seek out the sounds around him, there's no difference from an ordinary person. Moreover, seeking out surrounding noises is very tiring for one’s internal energy. Internal energy is the soul of a martial artist; losing even ten percent would take a month to recover. Therefore, my Prince certainly wouldn’t do such things, and generally, nobody does."
"Oh, I see!" Yun Qianyue nodded, looking like she had understood.
"It's said that Miss Yun Qianyue also trained in martial arts from a young age. By rights, you shouldn't be unable to control your internal energy. But when I observed your body, it seems there are signs of chaotic true qi."
"How would I know" Yun Qianyue shrugged. If she were the real Yun Qianyue, perhaps she'd understand what was going on, but nope! And she doesn't even have any memories from this body. She just feels something surging like a sea inside her lower abdomen sometimes, then disappearing without a trace, and it's alternately warm or cold. Luckily, it hasn't affected her life, so she can only let it be. That must be the true qi Xiange was referring to.
"I can’t figure this out either, but my Prince might know something about it. Miss Yun Qianyue can ask my Prince for advice," Xiange said as he turned his gaze away and continued leading the way forward.
“Hm!” Yun Qianyue responded in a perfunctory manner. She wouldn’t go to Rong Jing for guidance! There’s plenty of time, so let this thing do whatever it wants inside her body as long as it doesn't interfere with her life. Even without martial arts skills before, she was still able to climb and jump around; there's no need to waste effort now.
Xiange didn’t say another word, thinking that Miss Yun Qianyue seemed thickheaded and foolish at first glance. But the more he interacted with her, the less he understood her. Things others long for and adhere to rigidly were worthless in her view, leaving him puzzled about what she truly valued inside. He saw her leisurely gazing around as if it was nothing special, which made his earlier disdain and irritation dissipate, replaced by a respectful curiosity.
"A thousand-year-old temple; there’s not much to see except that it's rather old."
“This is the temple called the First Temple of the World. It was named so by our founding emperor personally when he established the dynasty. The temple has ninety-nine courtyards, and thousands of monks live here. When our founding emperor fought a battle at Luohuan Mountain and needed reinforcements, it’s said that the monks from Lingtai Temple joined him to fight enemies with spears, aiding the founding emperor in overcoming difficulties.”
“Oh, I see! What a pity for these monks; after leaving home, they still broke their vows and killed. Amitabha, what sins!” Yun Qianyue made an expression of sympathy.
Xiange was speechless.
The deeds of Lingtai Temple were widely praised back then because the battle was decisive. Afterwards, the founding emperor deployed his forces and prepared thoroughly to launch a counterattack, defeating all the former dynasty’s scattered princes one by one. The monks of Lingtai Temple rendered great service and received high honors from the founding emperor, their achievements becoming part of history. But in Miss Yun Qianyue’s view, they were pitiful...
"One general's success means countless bones laid bare! Monks gaining merit probably wanted this temple to flourish for a thousand years. However, it’s all just seeking fame and profit. I see no point in praising such behavior."
Xiange was stunned when he saw Yun Qianyue’s mocking smile; it reminded him of the way Rong Jing had talked about monks fighting enemies back then. At that time, Rong Jing hadn’t said much but seemed to be equally mocking and sarcastic. For an instant, Xiange felt as if this woman was on par with his Prince.
But the expression vanished in a blink. Yun Qianyue suddenly chuckled and asked Xiange, "Do you know if there are nuns here Do monks marry nuns"
Xiange's thoughts shattered instantly; he felt as though he had been bewitched by this woman’s filthy ideas. How could she possibly match his Prince in any way He turned around and said with a stern face, "Miss Yun Qianyue, be careful with your words! All the people here are monks or high-ranking monks who have taken refuge in Buddha's teachings; there can't be nuns living here, let alone marrying them. It’s nonsense!"
Yun Qianyue rolled her eyes. In modern times, monks and nuns could marry! This was too backward a place. People had wooden brains around here! She immediately replied, "Humph, there are none now, but there will be in the future!"
Xiange stopped again and warned seriously, “Miss Yun Qianyue, please don’t say such things anymore; this is Lingtai Temple. If someone hears you, it could offend Master Ling Yin and the abbot as well as all the monks. Even my Prince wouldn't be able to protect you; they might even expel you from the temple."
“Expelling me would be just fine! Who wants to stay in this shabby place anyway” Yun Qianyue said matter-of-factly.
Xiange was exasperated and snapped, “I meant that your expulsion might involve my Prince.”
"I have no connection with your Prince whatsoever; how could I bring trouble to him" Yun Qianyue rolled her eyes again.
Xiange fell silent. Looking at Yun Qianyue as if she were a monster, he wondered how the Crown Prince agreed to protect such an uncouth woman from his grandfather the Old King. He felt sorry for Rong Jing, whose cold face was turning colors frequently.
"Eh, your face is like that of a chameleon," Yun Qianyue seemed to have suddenly found something amusing and looked at Xiange’s changing expression with interest, as if she wanted to pat his cheek.
Xiange spun around abruptly and strode forward. He seriously doubted whether this woman was really from the Cloud王府! If not for knowing Yun Qianyue of Cloud王府 was a wastrel who didn’t care about social norms and often acted shockingly, he would have taken her to court right away as an impostor.
Xiange’s footsteps were swift; in moments, he had distanced himself from Yun Qianyue considerably.
Yun Qianyue didn’t mind. She thought Rong Jing was too rigid, lacking any sense of fun whatsoever.
Cai Lian, Ting Xue and Ting Yu followed behind the two men, feeling ashamed for their mistress. Speaking about nuns in Lingtai Temple must make Yun Qianyue a first in history! And she even went on to talk about monks marrying nuns…
“It takes countless bones for one general’s success; monks gaining merit might be motivated by the temple's thousand-year legacy and prosperity. Yet it's merely seeking fame and profit, nothing commendable,” Yun Qianyue commented with a snort.
Cai Lian sighed in unison with Ting Xue and Ting Yu when they heard this. The former Miss could never have said such things, even though she was aloof before; at least she knew social etiquette and what to say or not. But now, the current mistress gobbled food like a beast, walked improperly and spoke crudely. She had no ladylike conduct at all! They were worried about her future.
“This girl will probably never get married,” Xiange thought as he led them toward the back mountain meditation hall where Dharma Master’s Hall was located. He felt it impossible to accept such a woman.
Meanwhile, Yun Qianyue walked leisurely, thinking she had stepped into an ancient place and should enjoy herself thoroughly. Maybe one day, her findings could contribute to the National Bureau of Cultural Relics if she returned to modern times by chance.
No more words were exchanged as they passed through several monasteries toward the back mountain meditation hall.
Little monks hurriedly ran about in respect when seeing them. The direction was heading towards Dharma Master’s Hall, from where chanting could be faintly heard. Despite not being able to see it with their own eyes, one could sense the crowd and excitement there.
Yun Qianyue thought of Rong Jing sitting beside a bald monk and said happily, “I hope your Prince will take refuge in Buddha’s teachings today; I’ll burn incense for him.”
Xiange stopped again, looking at Yun Qianyue with an unchanging expression. "Ten years ago, Master Ling Yin said that although my prince has a Buddhist heart, he lacks the karma to become a monk and will never take refuge in Buddha's teachings this lifetime. So there’s no need for you to worry about him."
After saying this, Xiange continued walking.
Yun Qianyue blinked, her eyes turning dark. "Damn it! That old charlatan Ling Yin must be out to get me. Rong Jing looks like he could ascend to immortality at any moment; what poor judgment!"
Cai Lian sighed again after hearing Yun Qianyue's thoughts and whispered, “Lady, the Prince treats you so well! He even combed your hair for you today. How precious a man’s hand is, especially his—probably never used for anyone else before. Be grateful he cares about you this much; don’t wish him to become a monk.”
“Hmph, my hair got messed up by him in the first place! If not for him, who would comb it” Yun Qianyue was still annoyed at the memory of her ordeal.
"Miss, how could Prince Jing mess up your hair! It must be you who messed it up while sleeping. He kindly helped you fix it, but you didn’t appreciate him!" Cai Lian glared at Yun Qianyue and added: "Moreover, the King and Queen of Yong王府早就去世了,如今嫡係就隻有景世子一人而已。他要是出家的話誰來繼承榮王府?這話您以後可萬不要再說了。”
Yun Qianyue was taken aback. "You mean Rong Jing's parents passed away Quite a long time ago"
"Yes, it’s said that ten years ago because of the chaos in Northern Frontier, the King went to suppress it but got trapped there later on. Afterward, although the siege was lifted, he supposedly contracted an obscure toxin and fell gravely ill during the journey home; by the time his body returned, it had long turned cold. The Queen was deeply devoted to her husband and upon hearing this sudden news, she took her own life in mourning. Throughout his life, the King only married one queen who gave birth to Prince Jing; after that, there were no more pregnancies. Afterward, Prince Jing fell seriously ill as well and hasn’t left the mansion for ten years since then." Cai Lian’s voice was very low as she complained, "You should have known about this already, but you never cared about others."
Yun Qianyue's heart sank slightly; she didn't expect Rong Jing to be so pitiful. But compared to her being an orphan from childhood, he was still fortunate. There were many pitiable people in the world, and at least Rong Jing was now revered by all, living more comfortably than others. Upon thinking this, her heart lightened somewhat, and she lowered her voice as well: "Isn’t Rong Linglan Rong Jing’s younger sister How did he become an only heir"
"Miss, why are you getting even more confused" Cai Lian was at a loss and explained, "The Rong王府 is large with many descendants. Prince Jing's lineage starts from the Sacred Ancestor Emperor and continues to this day as the legitimate branch, but this line is known for its passionate individuals who rarely bear offspring. The current queen had only one son—Prince Jing—and hasn’t had any more pregnancies since then, so he’s now the sole heir. As for the collateral branches, they have numerous descendants. Miss Rong Linglan is a direct descendant of Second Lord Rong; there's also Third Lord and Fourth Lord. Therefore, Prince Jing is naturally her elder brother. He probably has many brothers, sisters, and cousins beyond just Miss Rong Linglan!"
“Damn!” Yun Qianyue’s lips twitched uncontrollably. The ancient aristocratic clans were truly terrifying!
"Not only the Rong王府 is like this, but our Yun王府 is also the same. Our family's legitimate branch has many descendants and is thus slightly simpler than the Rong王府. But even if it seems simple, there are still constant conflicts—this you know well. The Rong王府 values males with Prince Jing being esteemed; in our household, we value females, so since your mother—the Queen—died early and the King hasn’t remarried or appointed another main wife, there is only one female heir—you—and you are valued above all others. How many people envy you to the point of red eyes because of your status now and what it will represent in the future!
"Young Lord Nie, please stay here. Miss Yun is sleeping!" Mo Li's voice came from outside.
It was actually Ye Qingran! Yun Qianyue’s sleepy mind cleared up a bit but she still couldn't shake off her drowsiness. Although Ye Qingran and she had a good relationship, it didn’t outweigh her need for sleep. Thinking that Mo Li had also followed her here was good; with him blocking people away, she could rest peacefully.
"She’s sleeping" Ye Qingran stopped.
"Yes," Mo Li nodded.
“Why is she sleeping in broad daylight How can she be so tired Is she unwell Move aside, I need to check on her,” Ye Qingran walked past Mo Li towards the room.
“Young Lord Nie, please stop. This is Miss Yun's private quarters. It would not be appropriate for you to enter.” Mo Li stopped him again.ere was a blur before their eyes; when they saw her again, she had already appeared behind the Royal Secret Chief and struck at him with one palm. Although her move looked soft without any destructive...
